Many things in life we can control. A natural disaster isn't one of them. Our best defense is to begin taking preventative measures from the ground up.
The Fortified…for safer living® program is becoming the gold standard in disaster resistant construction, and ANPAC® clients can receive discounts for building these stronger homes.

The Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) is a national, nonprofit initiative of the insurance industry to reduce property losses. IBHS created the Fortified…for safer living® program based off of extensive research into why homes fail during a natural disaster – identifying weak points and ways to reinforce them.
Different areas of the United States can face different disasters, so a Fortified home in Louisiana might require different reinforcements than a Fortified home in California.
Visit the IBHS website to learn more about the perils for your zip code. You can print off this checklist and take it to your contractor when you’re ready to build your new home.
Then, check with your American National agent to see if your new Fortified home will be eligible for a discount on your homeowner’s premium. |
